Russell "Russ" Harrington, 56, Garden City, Mo., formerly of Independence, died Saturday, July 28, 2001. Mr. Harrington was born Jan. 24, 1945, in Independence, the son of Gomer Wallace and Georgia L. (Williams) Harrington. He was a self-employed retailer in the area. He was preceded in death by his father, Wally Harrington, and a daughter, Melissa Butcher. His survivors include his wife of 32 years, Edna Harrington, of the home; a son, Rodney Haslett-Harrington, Mexico, Mo.; two daughters, Rustie Welch, Lee's Summit, and Elena Hutchison, Independence; his mother, Lea Harrington; four sisters, Sharon Evans, Sibley, and Linda Nuckles, Patty Smith and Pam Johnson, all of Independence; and seven grandchildren.
