Jewell Dean Himes, 55, Dallas, formerly of Independence, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, in Fort Worth, Texas. Miss Himes was born June 3, 1945, in Independence. She was a graduate of William Chrisman High School and the University of Kansas. She was a federal certified Spanish interpreter and worked in the Dallas-Fort Worth courts. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Himes. Her survivors include her parents, Nephi and Josephine Himes, and a brother, David, all of Independence; three sisters, Fern Ragan, Texas, June Yale, Overland Park, Kan., and Caroline Pierson, Enterprise, Ala. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 7 at Rockwood Baptist Church, 10035 E. Westport Road, Independence. The family suggests contributions to the church's memorial fund in Jewell's name.
