Karen was the middle daughter of Charlie and Caroline Huhn and grew up in Independence, MO. Her sisters, Beverly and Katie were known to join her in numerous living room performances as young children and outdoor adventures near their house on River Boulevard. She attended the University of Missouri graduating with a Bachelors degree in home economics. At Mizzou she was an active member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority holding many positions of leadership and forming lifelong friendships. In Karen's early adult life she held some teaching positions then stayed at home after the birth of her daughters, Sarah and Amy. She was an extremely dedicated parent and volunteered her time often at St Paul's school. She went on to become the admissions director at St Paul's for many years and enjoyed welcoming new families to the school community. Karen was an active member of the community as a member of the Junior League and as a parishioner at St John's UMC church.
Karen was preceded in death by her husband Olen to whom she was married for over 40 years. She leaves behind her two daughters – Sarah Feldmiller (Nate) and Amy Gale (Doug). She was an enormous sports fan and would watch about any sporting event she could find, but particularly enjoyed her Missouri Tigers. Karen was devoted to her family and loved nothing more than spending time with her four granddaughters – Maggie, Alice, Caroline, and Elly. The girls will miss doing jigsaw puzzles and baking treats with KK.
Karen leaves behind a family and many friends that will miss her kindness, sense of humor, and dedication to helping others.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to St. John's United Methodist Church, 6900 Ward Parkway, Kansas City MO 64113 or to the Tiger Scholarship Fund, 1 Champions Drive, Suite 200, Columbia MO 65211.
