Sandra Lane (Collins)

Sandra Kay "Sandi" (Lane) Collins 1945 - 2014

July 10, 1945 – March 20, 2014

Sandra (Sandi) Collins passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Baptist Home in Chillicothe, Mo.

Sandi was born on July 10, 1945, to Giles and Helen (Spacht) Lane of Independence, Mo.  She was a 1963 graduate of William Chrisman High School, Independence, and a 1966 graduate of Central Missouri State College of Warrensburg (now University of Central Missouri), where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education.  On March 6, 1965, she married Larry Collins of Warrensburg, at Maywood Baptist Church, Independence.

Sandi was very active in band and choir throughout high school and revived this hobby during her adult life while participating in her church choir and orchestra.  She enjoyed sewing for her family and there was hardly a handicraft that she would not try.  Though she taught public school for only two years, she enjoyed serving as a substitute teacher in the elementary grades and helping coordinate programs such as Vacation Bible School and Mother's Day Out at First Baptist Church of Blue Springs.

Sandi is survived by her sons, Craig and Jeffery, and one daughter-in-law, Cindy, all of Chillicothe, Mo.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, and an infant sister.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St., Blue Springs, Mo., with Pastor Jerry Craig officiating.  Visitation will be 12:00 – 2:00 prior to the service at the funeral chapel.  Burial will be in Blue Springs Cemetery.

Contributions in memory of Sandi may be made to Mother's Day Out of Blue Springs Baptist Church or the Baptist Home in Chillicothe.
