Janice Sprague ** (Welch)

Janice L. Welch, 67, of Blue Springs, Mo., passed away Monday, March 11, 2013, at her home.

Visitation for Janice will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St., Blue Springs, 816-229-3276. Funeral services will be 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at Church of Christ-Temple Lot, 200 S. River Blvd., Independence. Burial will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Mo. Janice was born July 24, 1945, to Rolland and Marion (Denham) Sprague in Independence, Mo. She was united in marriage to Gary Welch on December 1, 1968, and he survives at the home. Janice taught Drama in Blue Springs schools and in Fort Osage Schools. She was a member of Church of Christ-Temple Lot. She was active in Blue Springs City Theater, and volunteered for Right to Life. She loved music and theater, and was Choir Director at church. She was preceded in death by her parents.

In addition to her husband, Gary, she is survived by her sons, David Welch and wife, Stephanie, of Independence, Mo., and Seth Welch of Kansas City, Mo.; daughters, Jennifer Wiley and husband, Luke, of Chilhowee, Mo., and Meghann Welch of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; brother, John “Jack” Sprague of White Fish, Mont.; sisters, Joyce Harris of Independence, Mo., and Dana Rider of Bates City, Mo.; and eight grandchildren, Westley Parker, Abigail Wiley, Amanda Wiley, Gabrielle Welch, Suzannah Wiley, Quentin Welch, Cora Wiley and Adelaide Welch.
