Dan Webb

June 28, 1945 — August 5, 2020

Dan Webb age 75 of Peculiar, Missouri departed this life peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 5, 2020.

Dan is survived by his wife Cheryl Webb of the home; a daughter, Sarabeth Graef and her husband Tim of Blairstown, Missouri; a sister, Martha Brightwell of Tuscon, Arizona; a brother, Joe Webb of Blue Springs, Missouri; three grandchildren, Dylan and his wife Rachel, Vanessa, and Sydney; other relatives and many friends.

Grandpa was special to me in more ways than I ever knew. Maybe that's just what a Grandpa should be, but I felt like he was one everyone wishes they had. He lead me away from the main stream and showed me how to be wild and fun. We'd spend our time burning dead cattails in his dried up old pond, catching bull frogs with cane poles and stomping grapes on the kitchen table to make jam. Every year in Minnesota he would help me tie on cotton cordel Big-O's so that I could catch smallmouth big enough to win the weekly fishing competition at the lodge. I still remember cruising across Flower Lake with him in the boat and the most important thing he told me was "catching fish isn't important. It's where you are when you catch them that is". I don't remember how big the fish were I caught each year, but I'll always remember the look on his face when I finally pulled them in the boat. He was a great man and an even better teacher that I will always be grateful to had had.

As a little girl you taught me how to have fun in every day. As a teenager you taught me that life is a train of change and success and the destination depends on my ability to adapt. And as an adult you've taught me the true definition of love. There hasn't been on day in the last 22 years that I didn't see you make Grandma feel important. Probably the same way she felt the day you "made the best decision of our life" and said yes when she asked you to the Sadie Hawkins dance at age 15. You were such an incredible man, role model and certainly the best Grandpa. Thank you for always being there to make me laugh when I was down and crying with me as we walked through your yard. Thank you for keeping all of my secrets, as I will continue to keep yours. Finally, thank you for being my best friend.
P.S. Love you said it first
P.P.S. Love you said it last
With all of the love in my heart.
Vanessa (The Golden Haired)

It was impossible not to love my Grandpa Webb. I'll never forget all of our movie marathons, yard surfing, the embarrassment I felt when I knew you were sharing stories about me with my friends or bike rides through the neighborhoods with the most dogs. Most importantly, I'll never forget the love you had for everyone you met. You were my best friend, Grandpa, and how you get to be my angel forever.
Love you said it first - Syd

I read Dan's Obit.  His Granddaughter's reflections of Dan brought tears to my eyes.  I may be a little sensitive since one of our groupees in our Bicycle Group just passed away.  Anyway, way to go Dan.
