~I was Treasurer of my nursing class & President of our Alumni
~ I took post-graduate courses in Pharmacology & IV Certification
**I played my violin in the Independence Symphony Orchestra
I was the libarian for the orchestra
**I sang in the Independene Messiah Choir but for the
50th Anniversary performance & it became a "family affair"
as my mother, my 2 sisters & I had the opportunity to sing
in this special performance together :) :)
**I also catered weddings & made speciality cakes.
**I worked as an LPN for almost 30yrs in hospitals, nursing homes,
~as well private duty. The most challenging part of my nursing was
~working in the correctional system & a psychiatric hospital
**I retired from the nursing field but after 10yrs I felt the need to return to work.
**I entered the Catholic Charities Seinor Program that helps seniors re-learn skills & learn new skills by working in a variety of working situations. I worked in the following areas:
~Independence Community Serviced League as Receptionist~1year
~Catholic Charities Turn-Around Program as File Clerk~3mos
~KC Health Dept as an Administrative Assistant--3years
in the areas of Enviromental Health, assisted with the Food Handlers classes, did data entry, totally re-organized their filing system, & the director of the program ask me to "make it so I could find what I need" believe me this was no easy task as his files were not any order!! I also worked in the Childhood Lead Prevention Program where I did outreach, cataloged all supplies, made up buckets with the supplies that clients used in their homes to clean up lead in their homes, made outreach
packets in English & Spanish, also designed forms as needed etc etc I don't believe there was any area that I did not assist in as I was very versatile.
**After my time was up in this program I retired again & staying @ home with my 2 cats.
**I am now trying get my home business going as a
Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant

**I will never forget the time that I "opened my mouth & inserted
my foot" My boyfriend & I went to Blue Ridge Mall & I went to introduce him to some friends & my mind went blank & I couldn't remember his name. After stammering a couple times my boyfriend graciously introduced himself. lol. I was so embarresed!!

**My boyfriend & I went to the Center Stake Senior Party instead
of the Prom. The theme was based on Alice In Wonderland.
The guys wore Mad Hatter Hats & the gals wore Tieres. There was
a real already roasted pig. We were sitting close to the front. As the
pig was being carved I was offered the tail that I quickly declined!!!

**The night of graduation, parties, & proms my family gave me
2 dozen Pink Sweetheart Roses. When my boyfrieng came he
appologized that he didn't get to the florist before it closed to pick
up my corsage. I told him that it was ok & we went onto my
graduation. What we did not know until after graduation is that my
mother almost missed my graduation because she took part of the
rose bouquet & made me a beautiful corsage :) :)
