Friday, April 20th, 1945 - Thursday, January 19th, 2023

On the morning of Thursday, January 19, 2023, Alana Lynn Admire, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 77.

Alana was born on April 20, 1945, in Independence, Missouri to Robert Bozidar Petrovic and Betty Jean Strater. She was the second of three sisters and graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City in 1964, after which she began working and raising two sons.

Alana lived a fulfilling life. For nearly 30 years she worked in the legal sector; including over a decade for the Missouri Court System, under the Hon. Laurence R. Smith of the Circuit Court of Jackson County – District 12, and the Hon. Donald B. Clark of the Missouri Court of Appeals. She later spent 11 years at the Independence law firm Humphrey, Farrington & McClain, retiring in 2013.

Her family was the love of her life, and her faith guided her every day. While she worked, she would regularly travel across the country and loved seeing the sights. Her favorite places included Cincinnati, Chicago, New York, and countless beaches. In her retired years she loved to read, and took up several new hobbies, including gardening, and began raising chickens with her husband.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert, age 90 (January 7, 1921 - January 8, 2011); and her mother, Betty Jean, age 36 (July 2, 1926 - April 14, 1963).

She is survived by her husband, Woodrow “Woody” Wilson Admire, Jr. (they married February 14, 1988, and were one month shy of their 35th anniversary); her two sons, Jeffrey and Robert M. Black; her older sister, Alexis Leah Brockett; her younger sister, Anita LaRae Fletcher; her step-son, Woodrow “Woody” Admire, III; nine grandchildren, including Kaela, Jacob, and Hannah “Sar” Black; and several loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be held in her honor at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., prior to the service. Committal at Park Lawn Cemetery will be held following the service.
