Marilyn Dryer, 75, a resident of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Wilshire at Lakewood Care Center.  She was born December 6, 1945 to Harold and Ruth (Riske) Barnes in Independence, MO.

Marilyn was a 1963 graduate of William Chrisman High School in Independence, MO.  She later obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Louisville.  Marilyn married the love of her life Barry Dryer on August 30, 1964 in Higginsville, MO.  Throughout the years she taught preschool at various locations.  She was a member of Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church in Blue Springs, where she served in various capacities. Marilyn had a passion for teaching young children. She enjoyed taking care of the home, gardening, and travel. The family moved frequently because of Barry’s career; Marilyn was both committed to maintaining past relationships and always quick to make new friends. For 20 consecutive years (1998-2017) Marilyn and Barry enjoyed spending a week each summer at Ghost Ranch Education & Retreat Center near Abiquiu, NM.

Survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Barry Dryer of Lee’s Summit, MO; children, Jeff Dryer and wife Helena of Olathe, KS, Brad Fire of Lenexa, KS, Kaitlyn Salamone and husband Nick of Columbia, MO; grandchildren, Lucas, James, Ellee, Jaden, Brock, Annika.  Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Ruth Barnes.

Marilyn has been cremated per her wishes.  A memorial service will be held at a later time at the Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church in Blue Springs.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Meyers Funeral Chapel in Blue Springs.  Memories of Marilyn and words of comfort for her family may be shared at meyersfuneralchapel.com.
