PATRICK BENEDICT Obituary

PATRICK ALLEN BENEDICT Pat was 78 years old when he passed away at his home. He was born to Charles Edwin Benedict and Alice Benedict who both preceded him in death in Independence, Mo. He also had one sister Patricia Ann Benedict Waddle who died in April of 1999. Patricia had one daughter Candace. Pat had two children and 10 grandchildren. Pat's son Seth Benedict resides in NKC with his wife Rachel. He has two daughters. Heather Clevenger, Pat's daughter, resides in Polo, Mo. with her husband Blake. Heather has eight children. He graduated from William Chrisman in 1963 and received a BA from Graceland in 1976. He also attended classes at UCM, UMKC and MCC. He attended St Paul's School of Theology seeking a degree there as well. Pat was a lifelong student and had a great love of learning and seeking knowledge. Pat was active in Slover Park RLDS church and in church groups most notably Center Stake Older Youth. He was also known for his explosive singing voice. He sang in the yearly production of Handel's Messiah at the RLDS Auditorium for several years. He was active in music and drama ultimately playing Tevye in the Fiddler on the Roof production at the Independence Community Theater. Pat was also a master bridge player and was nationally know for his strategy and knowledge of the game. He was an avid stamp and coin collector, having an expansive collection of both. Pat was in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1971 serving as a sergeant. While in the Air Force, he earned the National Defense Service Medal Ribbon, the Vietnam Service Medal Ribbon and the Republic of Vietnam Civil Action IC Medal Ribbon. A Service will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 10 a.m. at New Hope RLDS Congregation at 220 West Moore St., Independence, with a graveside service with full military honors at Mound Grove Cemetery immediately following.

I remember Pat well. I did not know about all of those talents and hobbies he displayed through the years as an adult and it was neat to be able to read that. You had a good run, Pat.
